In today’s podcast lesson we will be looking at how to describe trends in English. In business a trend is the general direction of things such as the prices of goods or sales volumes. Trends can be thought of in varying lengths including short, intermediate and long term. If one can identify a trend, it can be highly profitable, as you can read and predict where a market might be heading.

Businesses must be efficient in their allocation of resources. In this lesson you can listen to two managers discussing the Pareto Principle, also known as the 80:20 rule, and how it can help you allocate business resources as well as things like your time and your effort. In addition, you will learn a number of ways to describe cause and effect, plus a number of useful business word partnerships.

In the Learning Center these partnerships are reviewed and expanded on, and you have a chance to use them in a short passage. Then in the practice session you can use what you have learned in several roleplays.
