E-26 What’s the Date

Today’s lesson is about dates. There are many different ways of expressing a date in English. Native English speakers often use a variety to say the same thing, so it is important for you to know what they are talking about when they say a date to you.

Hi Emisan,
Thank you very much for your support and is there any suggestions we can hear from you?
To podcasts, would you please try again? You may close your Internet Explorer and open again to have a try. Or you can try to left click the files and to see if it is possible to download directly as different Explorer may cause different results, it means the results depend on which Internet Explorer you use.
If you have another problems or you still have problems with download, please don’t hesitate to let us know!
Thank you again for your comment. Best Wishes to you!

Hi!
I’d like a few more details about dates.
So if I’ve understood correctly we can say: “It’s October twenty fifth” (or: “It’s the twenty fifth of October”). But don’t we also say: “It’s October the twenty fifth”?
Another question is about the writing. I think we write: ” Tuesday October, 25th 2007″ in any case. Is that true? Is there any other possibilities?
Thanks a lot for your answers, and now I go back listening to your lessons!!

Loïc.
Hi! Sorry for taking so long to get back to you, but great question! You are right, you can say both “It’s October twenty fifth” and “It’s the twenty fifth of October”. The second one(the latter one) is something you hear much more in Europe than in the US. The difference come from how we WRITE the dates. In the US 6/3/07 means, June 3rd, 2007. In Europe, they would reverse the month and the date and would write the same thing as 3/6/07. Therefore, when we SAY our dates, we say them a little bit differently.
If you decide to add the day of the week. you were close but you missed one comma; it should be written as: Tuesday, October 25th, 2007
I hope that helps and definitely write back with any other questions!

I subscribed this website only 2 days ago. I have already listened 10 dialogs. Are there 137 dialogs in all? If so, it is not enough for me!:) Is it possible to add more dialogs? Your dialogs and script are realy very useful. This is why I am asking to you for more and more.
I will take a listening exam in a few months. I think your website will contribute my success so much.
Best wishes to ondemand-english.com group.

Sinan,
Hi! We’re so happy to hear that the podcasts have been so useful to you! We had to take a break from recording for a while, but we’re back in the studio this week to get more podcasts, dialogs and scripts to you! Do not worry. Although we have an idea of what you would like to listen to, if there are topics you think we should cover, please let us know - we make these for you!
Thank you again for the support and keep the suggestions coming!
