A-16 CV’s vs. Resumés

In today’s Business English podcast we are going to look at CVs and resumés. When you apply for a job, you will need to send a potential employer your CV or your resumé. But what is the difference between a CV and a resumé? What makes a good CV or resumé? In the lesson, we are going to listen as Christy answers these questions.

Wonderful and very useful podcast!… You spoke very fast but I could understand almost everything after two listenings.
Here in Italy we use only the term CV (at least to my knowledge)

Hello, Kris.
I am so happy to find this valuable website to improve my English and I really like your accent which is very clear. Your accent reminds of someone I know in U.K.
I wonder if you could give more efforts in giving us variuos examples for the words you guys are using.
It’s really hard for non native speaker to use right words in right situations.
Thanks
Jeremy

Great to hear all the feedback on this lesson.
Jeremy, we’ll do our best to give more examples of usage (sometimes we spend too much time defining and discussing new words, it’s true). We do provide 3 sample sentences for each new word/phrase in the Review Materials - Expansions section - available for those of you on the Free Tial or on the Premium Subscription.
Best Regards,
Kris

By the way, this lesson is for Fredy, who asked for a lesson about CV’s. We may have to do more on this important topic in the future. There’s a lot of good language in resumes and CV’s and a lot of it is more formal than we’re used to in normal speech.
Brought to you by Linda (the planner), Christy, Daniel and Kris.
